PIA management and employees celebrated the Independence Day with due fervour and patriotic zeal at PIA Head office, Karachi Airport on Friday. At a simple ceremony the Managing Director, Captain Mohammed Aijaz Haroon performed the national flag hoisting ceremony followed by national anthem by girl scouts.
Speaking on the occasion Managing Director, Captain Aijaz said PIA is the national flag carrier and acts as Roving Ambassador of Pakistan around the globe. "We must follow the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah -Unity, Faith and Discipline in PIA", he emphasised. On this day, MD PIA said we need to understand the importance of a free nation and make a resolve to adhere to the Quaid's motto in its true spirit so that global community responds to Pakistan with due dignity.
He congratulated all those in the PIA on this auspicious occasion and called for making a commitment that each and every step we take will be towards achieving greater glories for our homeland in general and for the national carrier in particular. He called upon each and every employee to rise to the occasion to make their airline profitable and world's one of the best airline.
To mark the day in the air, Pakistan flags, pins, bunting and national anthem cards were presented to passengers on all flights departing from Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar for domestic and international destinations. A special 30-minute Independence Day documentary was presented on board in Boeing-747s, 777s and Airbus A-310s aircraft.-PR
