The Executive District Officer Revenue Hyderabad in a statement has informed that the Revenue Officers having special judicial powers have recovered a total fine of Rs 11, 900/- from 49 shopkeepers and persons on account of charging high prices from their clients for essential commodities under Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977 & Ehtram-e-Ramazan Act on August 28.
The EDO Revenue further warned to shopkeepers to sell the essential items as per fixed rates, failing which their act will be treated as offence punishable with imprisonment of term which may extend to three years and with fine may be extended to Rs 100,000/- under the prevailing law.
