Rani of Hunza, Atiqa Ghazanfar has hailed the federal government's decision of naming Northern Areas as Gilgit Baltistan. Talking to VOA Rani said, "It is the desire of the people that Chief Minister, Gilgit-Baltistan should be powerful.
It was our old demand that we should be given representation in the senate and National Assembly of Pakistan so that we can join mainstream and our problems can be addressed." Atiqa Ghazanfar said Gilgit-Baltistan is historic name of the areas and it was long lasting demand of the local people. "By giving new name to our area, so many difficulties of the people will lessen. The federal government should appoint the governor after introducing new set up", Atiqa added.
