The death toll in rain-related incidents mounted to 17, as seven more people including two minor girls and a boy killed in rain-related incidents on Tuesday, police and witnesses said. Bin Qasim Police said two minor girls were killed and two other including a girl were injured, when roof of a house collapsed in Rafique Colony.
They said four-year-old Khadija and six-year-old Batool were killed and his sister and brother Ali Nawaz were injured when the roof of a house, No 278, Rafique Colony, collapsed. In another incident, two brothers were electrocuted while repairing fault in electricity line in the limits of Memon Goth police.
Sources said that the two brothers, Iftikhar, 25 and Ajmal, 20, were electrocuted when they were repairing electricity fault in Lucky Cement Factory at Super Highway. They were from Malakand. In another incident, a man, Iqbal 25, died when he slipped into a well in Asim Goth in the limits of Memon Goth police. The deceased was a mason by profession.
Another man was electrocuted when he touched a live electricity poll in Rahri Goth, in the jurisdiction of Sukhan police station. Sources said the deceased was crossing the road and in a bid to avoid rainwater accumulated on the road he touched the live electricity poll. He died instantly. The rescuers of Edhi said they have recovered a two-day-old body of three-year-old minor boy from a storm water drain in Fishery, Shipyard. Sources at Docks police said the body could not be identified and his body was shifted to Edhi Morgue, Sohrab Goth.
