Speakers at a function here paid rich tributes to sufi saint Sachal Sarmast, who had planted divine love into the hearts of people of Sindh province. They said Sachal was the most remembered, the most heard and the most revered sufi-poet of Sindh.
They expressed their views in a literary gathering arranged here on Saturday under the auspices of Pakistan Intellectual Forum (PIF) in connection with the 188 Urs of Sachal Sarmast. Ibrahim Nizamani said Sachal Sarmast was the leading sufi who composed verses on philosophy and sufism. "Sachoo is known as Second Mansoor ul Halaj because of his poetry and philosophy" he added.
Hashim Abro said that Sachoo Saeen (the truthful Saeen) revolted against trends of his time with his philosophy and poetry with such messages "The brave speaks the truth, let others like it or not, Let not be friendship based on false." "His unique use of similes, metaphors and allegories gives him a prominent place in Sindhi language and literature" he concluded.
