An Anti Terrorist Court adjourned the hearing of the former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto assassination case here on Saturday. The court had decided not to record the evidences in the case till the completion of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inquiry report in this regard.
The case will now come up for hearing on September 19. On August 22nd, the Judge ATC No I Akram Awan had directed that the five accused that were on judicial remand should be produced in the court after every fortnight, but the evidences would not be recorded.
The court had heard the arguments of the Federation and Punjab government regarding the suspension of Benazir Bhutto assassination case on the last date of hearing. Shah Khawar, Deputy Attorney General had prayed that the trial should be stopped till the receipt of the UN fact finding report.
The new facts may come to light after the report of the UN report, he stated. The federal government had constituted a Joint Investigation Team to look into the case afresh, he had stated in the court. Sardar Ishaq, Advocate who had been appointed Special Public Prosecutor by the Punjab government opposed the federal government move and had prayed for early disposal of the case.
