The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) will soon launch a comprehensive multi-layered web-based GIS for the use of disaster management. This webpage will be meant for disaster management activities, said Shakeel Qadir Khan, Director General PDMA during a one-day data consolidation and co-ordination meeting for the development of GIS system for the disaster management in NWFP held here at his office.
The meeting was chaired by DG PDMA and attended by more than 20 government departments (both federal and provincial). Explaining the need for development of broad-based GIS system, Shakeel Qadir Khan said it would work not only at provincial level but also at district level. In the second phase partner agencies and private sector would also be invited to participate and share their GIS data and expertise with PDMA, he added.
