Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman has said that Chief Minister of Punjab will inaugurate 44 Danish schools this year. Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that the Punjab government is already imparting free education at high school level and will also introduce free stationary at primary school.
The Minister said that it is for the first time that the Federal government has included all the provinces in consolation process regarding new education policy. The Punjab government forwarded its recommendations to the federal government in this regard, he added. He said that several recommendations of the Punjab government have been included in new education policy including school education at twelve grade and four years bachelor degree and teacher training for quality education.
One of four demands was that the education budget should be increased to seven percent of total GDP and hope that education budget will be increased to seven per cent of GDP till 2015. He said that the Punjab government wants to introduce uniform education system. To a question he said that the government has completed working to bring religious madaris in mainstreams while introducing English and mathematics in their syllabus.
