Improved inflows, helped the rupee to hold its overnight level against dollar, dealers said on Tuesday. On the interbank market, the rupee gained five paisa against dollar for buying and selling at 82.75 and 82.80, they said. In the Asian trade dollar edged up against yen, pulling away from this week's seven-month low on short-covering, while sterling edged up after British house prices rose for the first time in more than two years.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee managed to retain its overnight level versus dollar for buying and selling at 82.70 and 82.80, dealers said. The rupee also rose by 40 paisa versus euro for buying at Rs 119.50 and it also gained 30 paisa for selling at Rs 120.00, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on Tuesday at Lahore currency market. According to moneychangers, the dollar was traded at its overnight rates of Rs 82.50 and Rs 82.70 for buying and selling, respectively. However, the rupee improved its worth against pound sterling on buying side while it remained unchanged on selling side. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 134.70 and Rs 136.00 as compared to previous closing of Rs 135.00 and Rs 136.00, respectively. Dealers said they had picked pound at higher rates in recent past thus they would not book loss.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday. The dollar opened at Rs 82.20 (buying) and Rs 82.30 (selling) against the same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 82.20 (buying) and Rs 82.30 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 133.60 (buying) and Rs 134.60 (selling) against the same last rate. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 133.60 (buying) and Rs 134.60 (selling).
