Four Croatian soldiers sent home for refusing Afghan duty

Four Croatian military policemen serving with Nato force in Afghanistan were sent home for refusing to work with inadequate equipment, local press reports said on Friday. Croatia's Chief of Staff General Josip Lucic ordered the four home earlier this month after they refused to go on duty because they said that they did not have adequate weapons and other equipment, the Jutarnji List daily reported.
Some 290 Croat soldiers are taking part in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, the paper said. They have been participating in the 64,500-strong ISAF since 2003 helping in training the Afghan army and communications with the local population. The former Yugoslav republic joined Nato in April. The defence ministry could not immediately comment the report.
