Major stock markets outside the United States ended on Friday.
EUROPE STOCKS EXCHANGE: European shares pulled back, from an 11-month high reached the previous session, as commodity stocks fell, but Lloyds Banking Group reversed earlier losses on a Goldman Sachs note. Defensive drug makers, which have lagged the rally, emerged as the day's top gainers. The FTSEurofirst 300 of top European shares closed 0.5 percent lower at 1,006.50 points, snapping a three-day winning run but was still up 1.3 percent for the week. The index breached the 1,000 mark on Wednesday for the first time since October 2008.
FRANKFURT STOCKS EXCHANGE: The DAX index ended at 5,703.83 points, down 27.31 or 0.48 percent, up 79.81 points on the week.
PARIS STOCKS EXCHANGE: The CAC-40 index closed at 3,827.84 points, down 7.43 or 0.19 percent, up 92.95 points from a week ago.

JOHANNESBURG STOCKS EXCHANGE: South Africa's rand extended losses against the dollar, shedding as much as 1 percent as investors retreated from riskier assets, while blue chip stocks ended lower after strong gains in the week.
