President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Raja Zulqarnain Khan, called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the PM's House Sunday. The meeting discussed the system of accountability in AJK.
The Prime Minister said the government, in consultation with the Opposition, intends to table a new accountability bill in the National Assembly and asked him about the checks and balances in the accountability system of AJK for ensuring transparency and good governance.
President AJK briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on reconstruction work in the earthquake-affected areas. The Prime Minister said he would soon visit AJK to get first hand information in this regard.
He informed the Prime Minister of some anomalies in the constitution, which the Prime Minister said would be discussed in the next AJK Council meeting.
President AJK also informed the Prime Minster about some matters relating to the Chairman of Accountability Cell. The Prime Minister asked him to move a summary in this regard.
