PIA on Friday bade farewell to its Director Marketing Salah uddin, who proceeded on Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR), before he finally retires in June 2010. In a formal ceremony held in the PIA Head Office, Deputy Managing Director PIA Salim Sayani appreciated the professional acumen, integrity and perfectionism of Salah uddin spanning over last 34 years in commercial aviation.
In the absence of the Managing Director who is on duty abroad, the DMD conveyed the Managing Director's best wishes for Salah uddin in his future endeavours. The ceremony was also addressed by the Director Human Resources Hanif Pathan along with the fellow directors from IT, Marketing as well young MBA officers who were always encouraged by Salah uddin for a proper exposure and training to bring a change in the airline culture.
Over his 34 years career (mostly in marketing) in PIA, Salah uddin, besides being Director Marketing, had also served as Director Flight Services, General Manager Passenger Sales, General Manager (Americas) based in New York, Corporate Secretary PIA Board and General Manager International Affairs. He was also the Chairman of Board of Airline Representatives in Pakistan (BARIP). For a while he also headed the IATA Executive Committee as the Chairman for introduction of Billing Settlement Plan (BSP) in country.
Being a major in economics, he had extensive training abroad, including management courses from INSEAD, Fountainblue, France, Mcgill University, Montreal Canada, and Royal Aeronautical Society, Oxford, UK. Meanwhile, Director Procurement Logistics and Food Services, Imran Ahmed Khan has been given the additional charge of Director Marketing.-PR
