Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that improvement in law and order is the first priority of the present government. Unlike the past government, the police performance during the present government has shown improvement higher than expectation and the law and order has improved significantly. He was speaking as chief guest at the 24th Passing Out Parade at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Elite Police Training Centre at Razaqabad here on Monday.
Shah said law and order in Sindh had been bad for quite sometime but terrorism and crimes have registered a significant decline because of the efforts and strategy of the present government. He noted with delight that Police Eaglets have been imparted special training to deal with kidnappings for ransom, sudden attacks, bomb blasts and sectarian crimes.
He was confident that this training has generated leadership quality in our police. He described Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Elite Police Training Centre as an institution of pride for Sindh Police. The Chief Minister reiterated the hope that these trained personnel would always come up to the expectations of the people and government in every moment of trial and keep the flag of Sindh Police always high.
He recalled that Police Training Centre was established in 1988 during the PPP government and at that time its condition was not good. He announced a Rs 10 million grant from Sindh government for its development and expansion. He pointed out that the government has increased the budget for law and order as a matter of priority to provide security to the life and property of people while jobs and other issues come afterward.
Earlier presenting the welcome address the Provincial Police Officer said that since 1993, the centre has imparted training to 10.500 officials and jawans within its limited resources and on self-help basis. He said that in today's graduation parade, 1700 officials and jawans of Sindh Police including 1400 recruits were passing out after having completed anti-terrorist training. He said that special training programmes of various nature have been started for the officers and jawans.
