Malaysian shares closed up 0.94 percent on Thursday, led by financials, dealers said. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index gained 11.48 points to 1,230.09. Advancers outnumbered losers 367 to 247. "The positive newsflow recently was boosted today by better than expected Australian jobs data," a dealer told Dow Jones Newswires.
Among gainers, CIMB bank added 4.50 percent to 12.12 ringgit while builder Gamuda was up 1.20 percent to 3.26. On the downside, gaming group Genting lost 1.40 percent to 7.20 ringgit and national carmaker Proton slid 2.50 percent to 3.95.
