A 5-member delegation of the World Bank visited Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Secretariat on Tuesday to discuss the policies and progress of the PEF and its programmes. The delegation consists of Dhushyanth Raju (Economist Education), Felipe Barrera (Senior Educator), Humma Wahid (Research Analyst), Umbreen Arif (Education Specialist) and Randy Hatfield.
Javed Malik (Education Advisor) from Department for International Development also attended the meeting. Managing Director Ahmad Wani, welcomed the delegation at the office of Punjab Education Foundation, Secretariat. PEF senior management official gave presentation to World Bank members about the policies of Foundation Assisted School (FAS) Programme and New School Programme (NSP).
Managing Director, Punjab Education Foundation briefed the delegation about the Foundation Assisted School (FAS) programme and said that five phases have been completed successfully in 19 districts of the province of Punjab. He also said that more than 1300 schools are benefiting from FAS programme. He further said that approximately 0.6 million students up till now had benefited from this programme and students were taking free and quality education through this programme. He said that In future FAS programme is going to be expanded in new 10 district of southern Punjab.
He further said that PEF is also expanding New School Program (NSP) in 3 districts. Basically this programme is designed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of out-of-school children through better access equity and quality education through public private partnership.
