Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi has suspended the membership of Parliamentary Leader of PML-Q Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat for one day and Jamshed Ahmed Dasti of PPP for rest of the days of the on-going session as they used un-parliamentary language against each other.
The Deputy Speaker said that both the members have violated the rules of business and conduct of the House. In this regard, he also put a motion in the House to get approval and sense of the House to constitute a committee which would develop the 'code of conduct and ethics' for the members in and out side the parliament. The members of the House adopted the motion unanimously.
In the last sitting on Tuesday, derogatory remarks and use of invective language marred the proceeding of National Assembly forcing the chair to adjourn the House for next day. The PML-Q had announced to boycott the proceedings of the House which continued today (Wednesday). However, the members of like-minded group the PML-Q and the members of main opposition party PML-N were present in the National Assembly.
When the House started its proceedings, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan of PML-N stood from his chair after recitation from the Holy Quran and said on a point of order that a member of ruling party used abusive language on Tuesday which was against the honour and dignity of the Parliament.
He regretted on the incident and said that the country was already passing through critical phase of its history and facing many challenges. "We should join hands to face these challenges. We have to show harmony in the Parliament," he said. "We demanded of the government to take notice of this incident to maintain the decorum and dignity of the House," he said.
On it, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi said that he has taken notice of the incident. He said that he was calling a meeting in this regard. Munir Khan Orakzai of FATA also supported the view of Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and said that his party will completely co-operates in this regard.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan said that all the members should maintain the decorum and dignity of the House. He regretted the incident and said that the government would accept the decision taken by the Speaker.
