Bangladesh's state grains buyer has issued a new international tender to purchase 100,000 tonnes of wheat, European traders said on Monday. Any origin world-wide will be accepted from the 2009 crop year. The bidding deadline is December 2 and bids must remain valid up to December 23. Shipment must take place within 60 days of contract signing.
Bangladesh has recently issued a series of large international tenders. The country has in the past regularly issued several grain tenders at the same time. On October 5 it issued a tender to purchase 60,000 tonnes of wheat with a bidding deadline of November 16 and bids must remain valid up to December 7. On September 10 it tendered to purchase 60,000 tonnes with a bidding deadline of October 20 with bids valid up to November 10.
Another 100,000 tonne tender closed on September 30 with bids valid up to October 21. A previous tender for 100,000 tonnes of wheat closed on September 2 with bids valid up to September 29. Results are awaited. The country traditionally takes some time to approve wheat purchases, with the approval process going up to cabinet level.
