Thar coal, other energy projects: Centre, provinces ordered to submit amended notification

The federal and provincial governments were asked for the second time by a division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) to submit the amended notification regarding constitution of Thar Coal Energy Board within two weeks. The bench was hearing a constitution petition challenging dual set up both at provincial and federal levels and maintains that Sindh government should be given total powers in respect of the Thar coal and other energy related projects.
The bench here, on Tuesday, noticed that amended notification was not filed by the official respondents in the petition despite a clear direction given on previous hearing. The bench while adjourning further proceedings observed that if the amended notification was not submitted, the petition would be decided on merits.
