Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday took suo motu notice on an application seeking action against a laboratory involved in spreading Hepatitis in the country. Muhammad Hamayon Shaheed resident of Faisalabad had submitted an application requesting therein for action against the High Noon laboratories for intentionally spreading hepatitis.
The Chief Justice fixed October 26 for hearing and issued notices to applicant and owners of High Noon Laboratories and Secretary Health, Government of Pakistan and Punjab. Muhammad Hamayon Shaheed alleged that Ministry of Health has prepared a substandard Chinese vaccine, which is not certified by World Health Organisation(WHO). He further alleged that cancer is also spreading because of this vaccine, as CHO cell is included in this vaccine.
He stated that in 2005 he filed a writ petition before the High Court against the High Noon Laboratories pleading that this laboratory with the connivance of Health Department is spreading Hepatitis "B" in Pakistan. The said petition was withdrawn by his counsel without his will and then he filed intra-Court appeal.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath of the office to Justice Tariq Parvaiz, Chief Justice, Peshawar High Court as Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Justice Ghulam Rabbani as ad hoc Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Election Commissioner, Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan, Federal Secretary Law, Director General Federal Judicial Academy, Representatives of the Bar, Prominent Lawyers, Law Officers of the Court and Officers of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, were also present.
