At least eight persons were seriously wounded when a three-storey building collapsed in Burns Road within the jurisdiction of Aram Bagh police on Thursday evening. According to police and area people, a three-story old building located in Street No 2 of Burns Road collapsed due to its dilapidated condition, resulting serious injuries to at least eight persons.
The injured include Faizan, Ghaffar, Iqbal, Jameel, Irshad Hussain, Saeed and Wajaullah. The injured were immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where condition of two of them was stated to be precarious. The area residents said that the building was in shabby condition and the offices of printing press were located in its ground floor.
Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) had also declared it as dangerous few years back, however, no measures were taken to evacuate the building and the sad mishap took place, they said. No case was registered till filing of this story. Meanwhile, a young man was slaughtered by unidentified persons in Keamari in the limits of Jackson police.
According to police, an unidentified person slaughtered a thirty-seven-year old Noor Mohammad alias Faqeera son of Saleh Mohammad, a news hawker by profession, when he left his home at around 8:00am near Farooq-e-Azam Mosque. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).
Initial investigations suggested that someone attacked him to take revenge however the family of the deceased was insisting that they had no enmity with anyone, police added. Police, on the complaint of deceased's brother, Saleem, have registered a FIR No 735/2009 against unknown person and initiated further investigation.
