Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that Pakistan will fully co-operate with Iran to help track down and punish those behind heinous terrorist attack in the province of Siestan. Talking to Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Muhammad Najjar and his delegation at the PM House.
Prime Minister Gilani extended deep condolences to the government and people of Iran over the loss of human lives in the terrorist attack in Siestan. He recalled that Pakistan had in the past extradited some of the criminals to Iran after their arrest by Pakistani security agencies.
He said that the attack in Sistan was a deliberate attempt by their enemy to derail growing understanding and co-operation between the two brotherly countries. He emphasised that such incidents should not be allowed to cast shadow on the fraternal relations that so happily exist between Pakistan and Iran.
He said that the two countries face common challenges in the form of worst extremism and terrorism and stressed the need to undertake co-ordinated actions by enhancing intelligence exchanges to confront these challenges effectively. The Prime Minister offered to enhance co-ordination between the concerned security agencies to avoid any misunderstanding.
The Prime Minister while appreciating Iran's contribution of $330 million at the Friends of Democratic Pakistan Forum in Tokyo, said that Pakistan deeply values its close brotherly ties with Iran. The prime minister said that the recent launch of goods train would greatly help in enhancing the connectivity amongst the countries of the region.
He expressed the hope that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, and the process of importing electricity would be completed in time. The Iranian Interior Minister thanked the Prime Minister for Pakistan's offer of co-operation to track down the terrorists.
