Advisor to Chief Minister, Sharmila Farooqi has emphasised the need for holding exhibitions of Sindh's cultural handicrafts more frequently to promote Sindh's culture and talent on one hand and take the people out of shadow of terrorism and augment an impression about law and order on the other.
She was talking to journalists after visiting the exhibition of Sindhi art and culture at Expo centre here Saturday. She said that exhibitions not only build up an impression about conducive conditions but also enhance general awareness about cultural heritage.
She observed that Sindh was quite significantly known for its hand-made crafts and in this regard Hala, Kashmore, Matiari, Tando Mohammed Khan and Mithi enjoy special significance. However, Sharmila asserted that collective efforts would have to be done for the progress of artisans associated with the handicrafts.
The Advisor underlined the importance of holding cultural exhibitions in educational institutions and said initiatives in this respect would not only encourage the youth but people could also get useful information about our cultural background.
She pointed out that Sindh has always been remained a soil of peace and it was acknowledged world over as the land of soofis whose poetry and preaching always propagated peace and tranquillity. Sindh Province, she said, was rich with natural and agricultural resources and present government was exploiting all avenues to benefit from these sources to bring prosperity. She said that steps were also being taken for promoting tourism by developing the tourist spots like Gorakh Hill, Keenjhar Lake and ancient ruins like Moenjo Daro.
