The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has appealed to the people of held Kashmir to observe complete strike on October 27 and commemorate the day as Black Day, the day Indian army landed in the valley.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah in a statement issued in occupied Srinagar, said Indian army landed in on October 27, 1947 and since then, the Kashmiris have been observing the day as Black Day. They will continue to hold protests on this day till the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with their aspirations.
The APHC leader maintained that Kashmiris could not be silenced through military might, and that peace would continue to elude South Asia until the resolution of the dispute.
He pointed out that situation in the region was uncertain for the past more than six decades because of the longstanding dispute. "Despite the standing UN resolutions on Kashmir, we will welcome any meaningful and result-oriented tripartite talks, meant for resolving the dispute," he said, adding, "Let India, Pakistan and people of Jammu and Kashmir sit together and hammer out a permanent solution to the dispute."
