Sugar sale to domestic consumers: Punjab government taking measures to ensure price of Rs 40 per kg: Nadeem

Punjab Food Minister Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that the provincial government is taking all out steps to ensure supply of 30 percent production of the sugar mills to the domestic consumers at Rs 40 per kilograms while rest of the 70 percent is being supplied by the sugar mills at their own on higher prices to industrial and commercial sectors as per the decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He said this while chairing a meeting regarding provision of sugar at Rs 40 per Kg here on Monday. The meeting was attended by Secretary Food Punjab Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi, Additional Secretary Food Chaudhry Ijaz and Cane Commissioner Punjab Shahid Hussain and other concerned officials.
Kamran said provincial government was providing 30 percent sugar to traders and general stores at district level and it was available at Rs 40 per kilograms. It is learnt that under the new mechanism, Town Municipal Administrations would provide sugar direct to shopkeepers while the 70 percent sugar for the commercial and industrial use, would be provided through dealers of the Akbari Mandi and other areas.
