Operation Rah-e-Nijat: huge cache of India-made weapons, medical equipment recovered
Security forces on Monday recovered huge cache of India-made weapons, medical equipments and literature from the terrorists' dens during the on-going military operation 'Rah-e-Nijat' in South Waziristan.
"We have informed Foreign Office about the recovery of India-made weapons and literature and it would take up the issue with Indian Government", said DG ISPR, Major General Athar Abbas, while addressing a press conference along with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira.
He said Pakistan Army had taken full control of three main routes leading to the Mahsood tribe's main town. Abbas said that Pakistan Army had taken full control of Kanigurram, one of the biggest towns in South Waziristan and a major Taliban operation centre and completely cleared it of the terrorists.
During house to house search, security forces have recovered huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive materials. Sharing the details of the ongoing operation, Abbas told media that during last 24 hours, 12 terrorists had been killed and six security forces personnel injured.
"At Jandola-Sararogha the Pakistan army is extending its perimeter of security and strengthening it positions on the ridges," he added. House to house search and clearance of compounds is underway in Kaniguram town, he added. DG ISPR said Security forces were consolidating their positions on the ridges along the Razmak-Makeen road and had secured an important village, China, just adjacent to the road.
Addressing the media persons, Kaira said that the Pakistan Army was successfully achieving its target during the military operation in Waziristan. While condemning the Rawalpindi suicide attack, he said the terrorists were doing this because they were losing ground. Through such activities they are trying to create panic and fear among the people, he added.
Kaira further said that to date 3036 families of IDPs have been registered, 18,6,88 have been verified by NADRA, 7,272 cash cards have been distributed among them. The ATM machines at Tank and DI Khan have been linked to the landlines, he added. Besides this, a mobile hospital has been established in Tank for IDPs and one at DI Khan for security forces whereas the third one is ready and will be made operational as and when required.
He said three tube-wells had been dug in Tank and three in DI Khan to provide clean drinking water to IDPs, adding 3000 children of IDP families have been registered for schools and evening shifts have been started from November 2, while teachers have also been hired for the purpose. When asked about Altaf Hussain's advice to Zardari to resign, Kaira said he could not comment on it as it was broadcast quoting sources.
