Police have found the broken skull, damaged face, fingers and two legs of the suicide bomber and experts are working to reconstruct the face and skull to identify him. The damaged parts if constructed skilfully will help in getting true picture of the suicide bomber, well placed sources in Rawalpindi Police told Business Recorder on Tuesday.
Two unexploded hand grenades were also recovered from the bank, besides other explosive material, sources said, adding that forensic experts have collected samples of the explosives and other material used in the suicide blast, and they disclosed that over eight kilograms explosive was used.
Police and other law enforcement agencies have taken into custody a suspect namely Noristan, who was injured in Monday suicide attack at National Bank near Shalimar Hotel. The injured suspect is receiving treatment in DHQ hospital, sources said, adding that there are possibilities that Noristan is basically a foreigner as he failed to prove his identity.
They said that two motorcycles including RIL-9427 (125), fully damaged, and RIL-2472 (CD-70), partially damaged, are being minutely examined by forensic experts. The documents of these bikes are also being checked to reach the people behind this suicide explosion as eyewitnesses revealed that suicide bomber was on motorcycle, they said. Civil Lines Police Rawalpindi has filed an FIR of the Monday's suicide attack against unknown terrorists under section 302, 324, 440, 427, 20-B, 4 and 5 of Explosive Act and 7 of Anti-Terrorist Act.
The FIR revealed that the injured Traffic Warden Amjad Ali stated that a young man rushed in the National Bank of Pakistan and entered the queues of people who were drawing salaries and pension and blew himself up resulting in death of 36 persons.
Meanwhile, a joint investigation team was constituted to probe the Monday's suicide attack near Shalimar Hotel Rawalpindi comprising Police and CID officials. The team will also investigate the Lahore Suicide attack. The Inspector General of Punjab Police assigned the investigators to move quickly to reach the culprits behind the two suicide attacks in Rawalpindi and Lahore respectively and submit the report as soon as possible, informed sources in Rawalpindi Police told this scribe on Tuesday.
They said that the investigation team has started investigation and members of the team are questioning the injured and detained persons.
Meanwhile, the police took into possession the footage of the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) installed on a building just some yards away from the National Bank of Pakistan, the main target of the suicide bomber. They said that the footage would help in investigation of the attack as it showed people recording scenes through their mobile phone cameras after the blast.
