The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Tuesday set at liberty 28 Christian kiln workers after getting them recovered from illegal detention of a brick kiln owner. One Yousaf Masih had filed a habeas corpus petition seeking release of his relatives including women and children.
Petitioner said that he and his other relatives have been working at a kiln of Raja Jung, district Kasur owned by one Akbar. The kiln owner detained all the workers and was taking forced labour from them. He managed to escape from the illegal detention and approached the court for the recovery of his relatives.
A court deputed bailiff raided at the kiln and recovered the detainees from the confinement of Akbar. The detainees complained to the court that their belongings were still in custody of kiln owner. At this court directed the SHO concerned to recover the valuables of the detainees and handed over to them.
