"Pakistani youth is indeed 'Shaheen' (falcon) of Iqbal whose destinies lie in conquering the world, as our youth is determined to face all kinds of challenges, fearlessly and boldly, on way to success".
This was stated by the president of 'Parents and Youth Advocacy Awareness Movement' (Payaam), Basit Subhani, while addressing the media before hoisting the national flag at the top of one of the highest mountains of the capital, called 'B-1', to mark the 'Iqbal Day' here on Monday.
He said that the reason behind arranging this activity was to show to the world that Pakistani youth "is determined to face all sorts of challenges that the country is confronting today".
"By organising such activities with limited resources, Payaam has provided an opportunity to the people to celebrate the achievements of our national heroes like Iqbal, who sacrificed their lives for the creation of Pakistan" he said.
Referring to current terrorist attacks, especially at the International Islamic University, Islamabad, Basit said that there was dire need to celebrate all national events with full zeal to show to the enemies of Pakistan that "nothing can demoralise us".
"It is also an attempt to show to the world that Pakistani youth stand united under one national flag", he added. Sharing the details of the activity he said that the team comprised young patriotic volunteers and students from various educational institutions of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The event highlighted the importance of constructive activities like hiking for the youth of today if they are to maintain good health and stay away from anti-social activities, he added.
