Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (ZTBL) would collaborate with Japanese firm M/s Finetech for the transfer of Japanese technology for improvement of soil quality and enhancement of crop productivity. They would bring investment in Pakistan for the development of agriculture sector. An agreement has already been signed with M/s Finetech, says a release issued here Tuesday.
The Japanese delegation led by Naoza Sato along-with technical and scientific expert held a meeting with ZTBL President Muhammad Zaka Ashraf for this purpose. In the meeting, it was decided to develop technology centres in Model Villages selected all over the country and introduction of Japanese technology to demonstrate soil improvement, enhancing crop productivity.
The effective microorganism used in the demonstration of farms would be compatible with Pakistan's soil, said technical and scientific expert from Japan Hisahide Saito. The Japanese delegation said that the transfer of Japanese technology to Pakistan would be carried out in three phases causing big change in agriculture sector due to better soil quality and production at farm produce.
They would also impart training to the farmers for the successful application of soil technology to Pakistani farms by giving practical demonstration. For this purpose ZTBL farm at Islamabad has been selected. ZTBL President asked the delegates to initiate the application of this technology with flowers and indoor plants to make these products exportable and to earn much needed foreign exchange for the country.-PR
