Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) promoted by the Attock Oil Company Limited (AOC) was incorporated on November 25, 1950 as a Pakistani oil exploration and production Company. The Attock Oil Company had been engaged in oil exploration and production since the early part of last century and had discovered oil at Khaur (1915), Dhulian (1935), Joya Mair (1944) and Balkassar (1946) in the Potwar region.
POL discovered oil at Karsal (1960) and Meyal (1968) in the Potwar Plateau. POL new Oil & Gas discovery include Pariwali-1 1994-1995, Pindori 1995, Minwal 1996, Turkwal 1997 in the Potwar Plateau of the Upper Indus Basin. Under an agreement with the Government of Pakistan, POL took over the oil and gas exploration, production, gas processing and transmission activities of AOC. Currently the Company is quoted on all the three stock exchanges of Pakistan.
POL operates in nine Development and Production Leases over Balkassar, Dhulian, Joya Mair, Khaur, Turkwal, Meyal, Minwal, Pariwali and Pindori Fields. POL also owns and operates one deep well drilling rig. POL is actively engaged in oil and gas exploration in Exploration Licenses namely Ikhlas Block and Khirther South Block in the Lower Indus Basin as an Operator. POL has recently won bids for two new Exploration Licenses in the D.G. Khan and Rajanpur area.
The company had pioneered 3-D seismic acquisition and its interpretation on state of the art technology. POL has successfully drilled horizontal wells in Meyal, Turkwal and Pindori oilfields which are highly complex tectonic area of Potwar Plateau. POL has exploration and production joint ventures with OGDCL, Orient Petroleum International Inc, Tullow Pakistan (Development) Limited, MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Company B.V. and Pakistan Petroleum Ltd.
LEADING CAPABLY - SERVING RESPONSIBLY: POL has gas processing plants at Meyal, Pariwali and Pindori fields. POL also operates an extensive pipeline network for transportation of crude oil from fields to Attock Refinery Limited at Rawalpindi.
In addition to exploration and production for hydrocarbons the Company also produces and markets Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Sulphur and Solvent Oil. POL holds marketing license for LPG and is selling bottled LPG under the brand name of POLGAS. POL has a subsidiary company, namely CAPGAS (Private) Limited, engaged in the marketing and distribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). In 2005, the Company acquired 25% share in National Refinery Limited, which is the only refining complex in the country providing fuel products as well as lube base oils.
Pakistan Oilfields Limited and its parent company (AOC) have from inception to-date produced a total of 162 million barrels of oil and 621 billion cubic feet of gas from the Potwar Plateau region. Manzalai Central Gas Processing facility has two trains, having capacity of 150mmscfd each. This gas processing facility shall add energy value to national network to overcome the current crisis. POL has a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in this venture. POL continues to pursue an aggressive oil and gas exploration program in Pakistan and acquires reserves as well as participates in low to medium risk prospects.
