At the outset, I am pleased to express my best congratulations and felicitations to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the occasion of the 39th National Day. I further take this opportunity to present my best compliments to the Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, for their generosity and good reception which I acknowledge with sincerity, and thanks, from my colleagues and honorary consuls and business community, offered to me from the day I landed in the city of Karachi.
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's visionary thinking and leadership during the past 39 years have seen massive changes in all areas of political, economic and social sectors. Oman in characterised by political stability, peace and security. Oman's balanced approach to political issues have gained it international acclaim. This has enabled Oman to form strong and fruitful relations with countries around the world, helping promote friendship, dialogue, mutual understanding and common interests.
Oman is distinct in its geographical nature, famous for tourist attractions, ranging from high mountains and valleys, to clear sandy coastal areas. In addition forts, castles, and ancient archaeological sites are scattered all over the Sultanate of Oman.
The Sultanate encourages foreign capital investment that will enhance the overall development of the country. They should use our untapped resources, facilitate transfer of technology, know-how and managerial skills, and open new markets for Oman products.
The vision of future development in Oman is based to boost economy of the country in general, and per capita income in particular, in order to help our people to attain high standards of living like many other developed nations, and provide enough infra structure to stand upon firmly. These development plans are based on the practical implementation of law and order in the country.
During the last 3 decades, the Omani government concentrated on development of business and economical relations - regional and international in order for the development of political, socio-economic relations in conformity with the development of international competition in the open market. Furthermore, Karachi is the business capital, of economic activities of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This has been our motive to strengthen the existing economic development, and meet, with the same view in international issues.
In fact our relations are deeply rooted and fully resonate with each other on regional and international points of views. A large number of Omani nationals live in Pakistan and an equal number of Pakistanis live in Oman. These factors encourage more investment in different fields, which are available in the two countries. For example, Pak-Oman Investment Co Ltd, Shoaib Amin Petrochemical Company, Oman International Bank and Oman Air.
The Sultanate encourages foreign capital, by utilising untapped resources, to facilitate transfer of technology, know-how and managerial skills, and getting benefit from the world-wide connections of multinational corporations in opening new markets for Omani products. At the end I would like to thank the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, for exerting great efforts to provide maximum facilities to ensure peace specially in the region and in the world in general.
