Indonesian shares closed 0.75 percent higher Friday, led by coal miner Bumi Resources, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index gained 18.57 points to 2,487.36 in moderate volume. "Healthy foreign buying drove the index higher," a trader told Dow Jones Newswires.
Bumi Resources gained 7.6 percent to 2,825 after it sold 300 million dollars in convertible bonds to finance acquisition plans, while rival Bukit Asam rose 3.8 percent to 15,550 rupiah. The rupiah closed at 9,500 to the dollar compared to 9,560 at the last finish.
