Around three million Muslims from all over the globe start Hajj rituals on Wednesday (today), invoking Allah Almighty's mercy and blessings during the six-day spiritual communion with the Creator. The fifth pillar of Islam, the pilgrimage, is one of the most sacred and cherished religious duties to be performed once in life for every Muslim, subject to availability of resources.
Attired in white robes to symbolise purity and the equality of mankind before Allah Almighty, Muslims would gather in Makkah on today and would proceed on the route that Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) followed some 1,430 years ago to perform the Hajj. The Hajj rituals are performed between 8 to 13 Zil-Hajj, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.
