Fire fighters have extinguished a big fire in a open godown of waste plastic material in Orangi Town after a hectic struggle of four and half hours. A Fire Brigade official said here on Sunday that plastic material, stored in an open godown caught fire near Baba Wilayat Ali Shah Boys School in Orangi Town No 11-1/2 at about 3 pm.
Fire tenders rushed to the site soon after receiving a call from neighbours, he said. However, more fire trucks and bouzers were despatched to the site to control the fire which turned into an inferno by that time, he added. As much as 15 fire tenders and bouzers were utilised to fully control the blaze in four and a half hours. The official said that no one was injured in the operation and nearby houses were also saved from the fire, but the godown was gutted.
