Islamabad police, rangers and Traffic Police jointly on Sunday launched a massive crackdown in Afghan residential area -Subzi Mandi and apprehended over 60 suspects. The crackdown was launched in the aftermath of the worst Rawalpindi mosque suicide attack on Friday, which killed around 40 people, including senior army officers, children and civilians due to apparently security lapse.
The crackdown led by SSP Islamabad and besides more than 350 police officials, women commandos, volunteers, elected representatives and sniffer dogs also took part in the operation. The law enforcement agencies blocked at 18 different points to stop flee of any suspects and arrested over 60 people and some ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
Licenses and registration documents of vehicles were also rigorously checked so as to avoid any misuse of vehicles for terror activities. All suspects' houses, shops and suspects areas were checked during the operations.
