Contaminated drinking water: LHC seeks replies from three companies, Wasa, LDA
The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Monday hearing a petition against contaminated drinking water directed three drinking water supply companies to file their replies within fortnight. The court also sought replies from Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) till next date of hearing January 4, 2010.
The LHC passes these directions while proceeding with a petition filed by Watan Party Pakistan through its President Barrister Zafarullah Khan. The petitioner pleaded that he felt aggrieved by the supply of bottled water, which was contaminated, stale and mostly filtered tap water. The petitioner prayed to the court that all bottled water should be tested from reliable laboratories before supplying for human consumption.
