An exhibition of 55 prints by seven young printmakers was opened at the Nomad Art Gallery (NAG) with the works that explore the medium with themes like human nature, feelings and emotions in different stages of life. The artists including Wajeeha Kamal, Summiya Khan, Maryam Sabir, Reema Fawad, Saira Ijaz, Sana Sehrish and Anila Khokhar have shown talent in an innovative way.
The prints are creative and skilfully executed with a charming and youthful perspective that appeals to the viewer and the critic alike, said Nageen Hyat, Curator of the gallery It shares the moments of joy, confusion, resolving issues while challenging and stretching the medium to the maximum level to break barriers and limits, she added.
About the themes, Wajeeha Kamal said, "Emotions are like rolling tides of the sea that provides a way to remove stress. If a person is unable to express his emotions it will lead to self-destruction therefore they are expressed in anyway. Feelings are guideline to help us understand both our own emotions and actions and those of other people."
Summiya Khan through her works explains the perceptions, self-awareness and exploration, which she terms as the quickest and most effective way to relieve stress. Maryam Sabir focussed on the life of human beings which is divided into various stages, a man passes through different thoughts, ideas, expressions, emotions and feelings.
Reema Fawad has displayed her works with the theme of 'Pakistan - a dream gone sour' in which she explores the journey of those who migrated to Pakistan from India. The works of Saira Ijaz depict the stages of life in which someone has to achieve his goals and aims while Sana Sehrish's work is based on the conditions and factors of the society according to the present scenario. The show will continue till December 30.
