The standard of golf is rising in the country and Pakistani golfers are earning fame for the country due to their outstanding performance in different golf events. This was stated by Millat Group of Companies Chairman Sikandar Mustafa Khan, while talking to media men here on Thursday.
He maintained that Pakistani golfers Shahbir Hussein and Munir Hussein recently appeared in World Cup Golf event at China and showed outstanding performance. Likewise, Pakistani golfers Shahid Javed, Matloob Ahmed, Mohammad Akram, Imdad Hussein and Mohammad Siddique qualified for playing Indian Golf Circuit.
"Golf players are getting more and more opportunities to improve their skills," he said. Unfolding the details of 26th Governor's Cup Golf Tournament, he said the event would be staged at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course from December 18 to 20. He said the tournament is basically for amateurs golf players, as around 140 golfers from across the country are participating in the event.
Apart from this, 50 senior, 21 veterans and 11 ladies golfers are taking part in the event that will be comprised of 54, 36, 18 and 9 holes, he added. He also said the Punjab Governor Salman Taseer would be Chief Guest at prize distribution ceremony to be held on Sunday (December 20).
