Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) has said that if Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) did not implement the Supreme Court's decision it would have to pay heavy cost politically.
"PML-N wants politics of constitution, democracy and rule of law for nurturing peace, progress, prosperity and love in the society. Whenever we invited PPP to have meaningful discussions on the above mentioned agenda, it doubted our intentions," PML-N leader Siddiqul Farooq said while addressing a news conference here on Monday.
"We are friends of the PPP and plot against the PPP is being hatched from within the party. Those who are suggesting the party leadership not to implement the Supreme Court's verdict, not to restore the constitution and follow the policy of Musharraf and use Sindh card are actually plotting against the PPP," the PML-N leader said.
Answering to a question, the PML-N leader said that holding of two offices by President Asif Ali Zaradri could be challenged in the Supreme Court. He said that the President is a symbol of unity of federation and he should not be holding the party office.
The president and governor should not indulge in politics. He said that the President and the Governor of Punjab should resign from their party slots. He said that the PML-N also faced the taunt of friendly opposition for co-operating with the PPP to save democracy.
It would be blessing for 170 million people of Pakistan if the constitution is restored in its original shape, he said. Siddiqul Farooq said that those ministers should resign who got relief in violation of the constitution because the Apex Court termed the NRO as unconstitutional. He said that the ministers could influence their cases.
The PML-N leader regretted the Prime Minster's remarks saying, "Interior Minister Rehman Malik himself arrests the people--who will arrest him? The Premier has to pay heavy political price for this statement," he said. He also strongly condemned the statement of PPP Punjab President Raja Riaz that now the dead body of Punjab would fall. The nation has right to ask him (Raja Riaz) to tell where, when and whom he has planned to kill.
