Charoen Pokphand Foods, Thailand's biggest chicken exporter, said on Friday it aimed for 10 percent revenue growth next year from an estimated 160 billion baht ($4.80 billion) for 2009. The company had earlier aimed for 5-7 percent revenue growth for 2010.
"The 2009 year is a good year for us ... For next year, we are not expecting a big jump in sales. We see growth of about 10 percent," Managing Director Adirek Sriprathak told reporters. Adirek attributed higher sales for next year to strong overseas sales, mainly in Russia, India, the Philippines and Turkey.
The company would spend about 5 billion baht next year on expansion of its plants overseas and on investment in aquaculture business in Thailand, he added. The 2010 revenue growth would be boosted by shrimp businesses due to strong exports, which would expand by 50 percent, and because the company continued to increase its ready-to-eat food products.
Revenue from farm businesses, including chicken and shrimp, would contribute about 45 percent to the total this year while animal feed would make up 35 percent, with ready-to-eat food products attributing 20 percent, he said. It aimed to boost revenue from the ready-to-eat food products by 22-25 percent next year, increasing to one-third over the next five years when revenue from farm businesses and animal feed would each make up one-third to total.
