The Federal Board of Revenue has requested the Ministry of Commerce to ask the ambassador in Canada to relieve the Consul General, Consulate General of Pakistan in Montreal from duty immediately, so as to complete the disciplinary proceedings pending against her.
It is learnt here on Friday that the Ministry of Commerce has also approached the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to advise the ambassador of Pakistan to call back the tax official of Grade-20 from Montreal. Sources said the FBR has once again requested the Commerce Ministry to recall the officer from abroad and repatriate her to FBR to let her face the disciplinary proceedings under the Removal from Service (Special Power) Ordinance 2009, approved by the Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Commerce has directed the Consul General, Consulate General of Pakistan, Canada to immediately relinquish charge as Consul General and hand over the charge of the post to the ambassador of Pakistan, Ottawa and subsequently report to the FBR Islamabad, under the intimation to this ministry. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been requested to advise the Ambassador of Pakistan, Ottawa to relieve the Consul General, Montreal forthwith to implement the decision of the Prime Minister, the Commerce Ministry added.
