Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, paid a visit to the gutted commercial markets, shops and bazaars in acts of arson on the day of Ashura. He was accompanied by Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Huq, Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza, Law Minister Mohammed Ayaz Soomro, Revenue Minister Jam Mehtab Daher, Works and Services Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Agriculture Minister Syed Ali Nawaz Shah and Irrigation Minister, besides his advisors Rashid Rabbani, Siddiq Abu Bhai Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi, CCPO Karachi, DCO Karachi and other officials.
The Chief Minister first visited Boulton Market and took stock of the losses caused. On the occasion the affectees and representatives of their associations, apprised the Chief Minister about details of loot and arson by mischievous elements after bomb blast in the Ashura procession.
They said that thousands of families have been affected with the gutting of hundreds of shops and ruination of business. The Chief Minister was shown gutted shops of toys, plastic goods, saints and garments. Qaim Ali Shah assured the affected persons that their damages would be compensated and arrangements made for their rehabilitation. Later he visited Lunda Bazar at the site of bomb blast, met the affected shopkeepers and sympathised with them on the tragedy.
He said that immediate steps are being taken for their assistance and rehabilitation and a relief fund has been set up. On the occasion Vice-President Lunda Bazar Traders Association Ahmed Shah and other members apprised the Chief Minister about details. Qaim Ali Shah informed that a meeting of KCCI Committee for burnt markets and representatives of affected trade organisations is being held at CM House Thursday evening in which important decisions will be taken after detail consideration.
He urged the affectees to build up their spirits and cooperate with the government to facilitate their rehabilitation measures. He told them that the traders whose business has totally ruined and buildings destroyed will soon be shifted to railway ground. Later the Chief Minister also visited railway ground and reviewed the arrangements for rehabilitation of affectees.
