The Chief Executive Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) Muhammad Ibrahim Majoka has said that Gepco was fully alive to the situation and was taking necessary measures to facilitate the industrial production by minimising the load shedding and controlling unscheduled load shedding and power outages.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday the Chief Executive Gepco held a detailed meeting with members of local trade bodies, including SCCI meeting held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here Friday. He said that Gepco Sialkot would prepare load shedding schedule in consultation with the trade bodies of Sialkot.
He ensured that uninterrupted electricity would be supplied on sixteen industrial feeders of Sialkot during the working hours, with only one hour break during the lunchtime. The President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammad Ishaq Butt in his address of welcome expressed his great concern on the unscheduled load shedding carried out by Gepco in Sialkot, which has crippled the export industry of Sialkot and badly affected the domestic consumers.
Trade Bodies and members of business community present in the meeting also expressed deep concern on twelve to fourteen hours load shedding being carried out in Sialkot, due to which industrial production has come to a standstill and business activities have frozen. They demanded that export city of Sialkot must be given maximum relief, especially the industrial feeders, be exempted from load shedding like Faisalabad and Lahore.
The SCCI President and representatives of other trade bodies appreciated this announcement stressed that the schedule of uninterrupted electricity supply on sixteen industrial feeders should be implemented in letter and in spirit. The business community warned that if Gepco fails to supply electricity to industrial feeders as per commitment within next week, the industries of Sialkot would consider closing of business.
