A rift between the provincial finance department and the ministry of works and services (W&S) has left dozens of W&S projects in an uncertain situation. The progress of the development projects of W&S has come to a halt as the finance department has almost stopped issuing funds for the projects.
Despite having nominal allocation of Rs 10.29 billion in Annual Development Project (ADP) 2009-10, the funds of W&S projects were almost stopped because of undefined reasons; sources told Business Recorder on Wednesday.
They said that the cleavage of opinions between Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Manzoor Ahmad Wassan, minister for W&S, and secretary finance is the chief factor to stop funding for the projects, saying that the provincial finance department has so far released only 50 percent of its allocation, creating problems for the authority concerned to accomplish the projects.
When this reporter approached secretary finance to discuss the matter, he was not available for comments. However, some official sources in provincial finance department dispelled the impression that the progress of the development projects of W&S was at a standstill owing to indifference of the department, and said that funds for the development projects were being released uninterruptedly.
