A delegation of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) will call on President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday (tomorrow). Gohar Ejaz, Chairman Apmta Punjab, would lead a delegation of about 40 spinners to apprise him of the hurdles affecting the growth of textile sector.
This meeting is taking place in a very crucial moment, especially when the federal textile ministry has surrendered to the pressure of home textile and apparel sector and impose quota on exports of yarn, a clear-cut negation of the free market mechanism. The Aptma delegation would agitate against the decision, as it may result into immediate closure of some 50 spinning mills in the country.
