The NWFP Minister for Science and Technology, Muhammad Ayub Khan Asharri has said that peace has been restored in Swat and the scenic valley would once again be turned into heaven for the tourists. The Minister said that the remaining militants would be eliminated completely from the area and the valley would regain its lost attraction for tourists from across the world.
He expressed these views while talking to mediamen here after inaugurating Computerised Operation Programme of Driving Licenses at the district on Tuesday. ANP Leader and former Federal Minister Muhammad Azam Khan Hoti, District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar, Commissioner Mardan Muhammad Akbar Khan, DIG Syed Akhtar Ali Shah and DPO Mardan Waqif Khan were also present on the occasion.
Ayub Khan said that security situation was under control in the militancy hit Swat, which could be gauged from the ongoing election campaign for the vacant seat of MPA Shamsher Ali Khan. Similarly, he continued that special festival was held for tourists at Kalam area wherein tourists from across the country were participating.
Likewise, he continued that reconstruction and rehabilitation work was also in progress in Malakand division with specific focus on reconstruction of destroyed schools, hospitals and communication facilities in the area. Earlier, Former Federal Minister Muhammad Azam Khan Hoti formally inaugurated the computerisation project of driving licenses.
Ayub Khan said that computerised driving licenses were issued in the provincial capital and with the grace of Allah Almighty the process has been initiated in district Mardan also. He said the applicants would get driving license within seven days adding the project cost Rs 68.4 million. Ayub Khan said that license form would be received as per old rate and the fees have not been increased.
