Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Muhammad Pervez Rathore has ordered foolproof security arrangements for media offices, Press Club and all other important buildings in the provincial metropolis. He said that Lahore Police should remain high alert to face the current situation. CCPO further ordered to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles, persons and residents of Afghan localities.
After the Peshawar blast, CCPO directed Police officers to ensure strict surveillance of all crowded places in the city, besides ensuring quick installation of CCTV cameras at banks, money changers, financial institutions, patrol pumps, industrial units and all other places dealing in cash business in their respective areas. CCPO also appealed to the citizens to desist from making bogus telephone calls and help police in making such mischievous persons accountable before the law due to whom citizens are deprived of immediate police assistance in genuine emergency calls.
CCPO further directed Lahore Police for keeping a close and continuous contact with the security personnel deputed at sensitive institutions, universities, schools and colleges and other important places and making comprehensive security arrangements there after a thorough check-up. He ordered to take strict legal action against all kinds of hate material and hate-related wall-chalking and pamphlets distribution in order to eradicate dissemination of wrong information.
CCPO further directed Lahore Police to contact city shopkeepers selling blue, yellow and red colour revolving lights and they should be restricted to sell such lights only to legitimate concerned departments and, at the time of selling such official lights, the shopkeepers should demand an authority letter of some competent officer of the concerned department from the purchaser, besides also keeping a complete record in this regard. He directed Lahore Police to keep a close liaison with Civil Defence and Jail Department in order to take quick necessary action against suspicious persons.
