Punjab MPA Waris Kaloo, while speaking in the 16th session of the Punjab Assembly here Tuesday, said that there was no change felt in 'thana system' and hardly 1 percent of the population was holding the resources of the country as compared to the other 99 percent.
He said there was such a disparity in the incomes of the people that on one hand, somebody was drawing an income of Rs 4000 to Rs 6000 while on the other, someone was drawing a lavish pay of Rs 6,00,000. He said the society had become insane because of uneven policies and said that there was a need for restructuring the society.
In the session, two bills Public Service Commission (Amendment) Bill 2010 and Office of the Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill 2010 were forwarded to the Cabinet by the Chair, which would be put back in the House after deliberation on them. In an adjournment motion by MPA, it was brought to the notice of the House that there were 190 hepatitis patients in Camp Jail and 208 hepatitis patients in Kot Lakhpat Jail. The motion was kept in pending.
On another Adjournment Motion by MPA Nighat Nassir and others, it was brought to the notice of the House that certain pharmaceutical companies had abandoned making life saving drugs. This question was again kept for pending.
In the session, one-minute silence was observed on the death of 13-year girl Shazia. MPA Kamran Michael on the occasion asked the government to also arrest culprit of Sambrial and Gojra incident. Regarding the law & order situation, MPA Mohsin Laghari averred that narcotic criminals were openly dealing in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajan Pur area. Rana Afzal MPA, on the occasion, dilated that a secret cell should be established to check the performance of 'thanas'.
