The second Gender and Microfinance Workshop, with the theme, 'Current Trends, Issues and Concerns in the Sector' ended on January 24, 2010 at Lahore. The workshop was organised by the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN) as a follow up to the first workshop held in March last year.
The workshop reviewed the initiatives taken after the first Gender and Microfinance Workshop and reflected on the current crisis and its gender dimensions. Microfinance experts also shared relevant lessons from microfinance organisations across the world and identified principles and strategies for sustainable microfinance. In particular, the Jami Bora case study from Kenya caught the interest of the conference participants. The workshop was co-sponsored by Oxfam-Novib and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.-PR
